“Dignity is found in freedom – the freedom to live without constantly worrying about your livelihood, and the freedom to enjoy an existence that is beyond mere sustenance. In other words, my dream is to enable as many people as possible to live a life they feel is worth living. I am convinced that the study of Development Economics at MIT will grant me the best knowledge and skill-set to do so” – said Gailius.
Gailius received MJJ Knowledge grant to study Development Economics and Data Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the science of helping poorer countries and people by analyzing the specific problems they face.
“When it comes to Development Economics, MIT is the best school in the world. This does not come as a surprise when you realize that the professors leading the faculty are world-renowned experts. The faculty boasts names that have transcended the boundaries of Economics into general knowledge, such as Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee (co-authors of the best-selling Poor Economics) and Daron Acemoglu (of Why Nations Fail fame)”.
Accepting the MJJ grant, Gailius took the responsibility to share his knowledge in his monthly vlog videos. This way, together with the talented youth seeking education abroad we will ensure the growth of knowledge sharing culture with fellow students or industry experts back in Lithuania.
